Moths in Vertigo

Jamie Morewood Anderson

Once in a while, when evening

slowly creeps its way across the porch,

the moths will go to silhouette

like living shadows against

the painted sky,

beating their way to the porch light

on paper wings,

frantically, endlessly searching

for their own horizon

never knowing the sun rises

even as it sets.
